Who I Am
I am Elizabeth Franklin-Best. I’m a Chambers ranked white collar criminal defense lawyer who owns a boutique law firm in South Carolina and I represent clients throughout the United States. I focus almost exclusively on federal post-conviction matters— direct appeals, post-conviction relief, and compassionate release petitions. I’m also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and I assist immigration lawyers when I can. I’m a founding member of the South Carolina Chapter of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association and I’m a co-Chair of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Amicus Committee with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. I represent professionals who have been convicted of federal crimes reverse their convictions, mitigate their sentences, and reclaim their lives.
I also recently purchased an apartment in Carcassonne with a law school buddy and now we’re having fun searching for just the perfect trumeau and chandelier! And now I want to help other Americans who want help in figuring out how to balance their professional lives with travel to, and maybe ownership in, France. I feel like I’ve learned so much over these past few years as I’ve travelled repeatedly to France and I want to share that knowledge with others.
